Reading Strategy Training Events (MAN)
Training on the core components of the trust’s Reading Strategy, designed to ensure that every school caters for each stage of a pupil’s reading development. This is a cross-phase and cross-curricular strategy, and therefore needs to be implemented by an appropriate senior leader within each school.
At each session, attendees will receive training on a specific aspect of the Reading Strategy: early reading; vocabulary instruction; fluency training; and deepening comprehension. Delegates will be given training materials, practical ideas and resources to take back to school to disseminate to across the school. There will also be opportunities for moderation and literacy leadership support built into these sessions.
It is expected that a member of SLT attend the initial launch alongside the school’s Literacy Lead. The Literacy Leads will then attend the second and third events. There will be an initial gap task for each attendee to complete between each training event to report back on at the next session. There will be additional opportunities woven into the year for attendees to join an online forum for discussing, asking questions and troubleshooting in regards to the reading strategy in practice in school. These will be held on Microsoft Teams and managed by the National and Primary Leads.
