This session will provide important information and updates from Astrea Function Heads and enable networking and collaboration within our SBM/OM community. Updates will vary at each session and will be led by content suggested by SBM/OM’s, typically including a cross section of the following:

Session 3. Effective Communication Scope, scale & standards of communication.
Quality assurance. Holding difficult conversations and handling challenging behaviours. Dealing with conflict
Critical Conversations Informal & Formal processes. Evidence. Absence management, Occ Health reports. Practical scenarios.
Session 5. Policies & Procedures Policies, procedures, practice.
What’s the difference & whose responsibility are they? What happens when they go wrong? What do Ofsted look for? ‘Fix & Find’ or ‘predict & prevent’? Charlie Taylor’s report.
Session 6. Managing Resources What are resources?
Three E’s model. Deployment, Optimum use, Impact, Stewardship, Benchmarking, Capitation review, SBM – Financial regulations.
Strategies to secure improvement What is strategic planning? Prioritising. Embedding a ‘culture’ or ‘ethos’. Planning ‘tools’. Improvement plans, ‘Project’ plans. Risk analysis. Coaching for development.
Session 8. Ofsted Understanding the Framework.
What to expect as a middle leader. Thematic inspections. 1:1 interviews, Evidence at hand.
